The Florida Orchestra welcomes 8 new musicians

Violinist Yefim Romanov is one in all eight new musicians with The Florida Orchestra. He’s first assistant concertmaster.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Florida Orchestra will welcome eight musicians to their first full season with TFO this month. All have received extremely aggressive blind auditions that attracted candidates from across the nation and the world for full-time positions in Florida’s largest skilled orchestra, underneath the inventive management of Music Director Michael Francis.

Violinist Yefim Romanov joins TFO for his first full season as first assistant concertmaster within the 2022-23 season. Chi Lee, affiliate principal viola
Chi Lee joins TFO for her first full season as affiliate principal viola within the 2022-23 season. Born in Taiwan, Lee obtained her bachelor’s diploma from the Manhattan College of Music, her grasp’s diploma from Rice College, and is a physician of musical arts candidate on the College of Maryland. Her performances in worldwide festivals embody the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Competition in Germany, the Britten-Pears Younger Artists Programme and Asian Youth Orchestra, touring Japan and China. His sound has been heard on NPR’s Efficiency Right now, From the High, and on Medici.television, because the first-ever American prizewinner within the Worldwide Tchaikovsky Competitors’s Brass division. He was twice named first prize within the Nationwide Trumpet Competitors USA. Norris is a member of the band Gravity the Architect, which mixes acoustic devices with trendy pop textures and beats. Ben Hauser, second trumpet
Ben Hauser joins TFO as second trumpet within the 2022-23 season. Beforehand, he was principal trumpet of the Arkansas Symphony and the York Symphony in Pennsylvania.
